A Day In The Studio … with Elliott & Fr3e

Tuesday March 9, 2010

Well, this is to be my first blog in the land of Roostie! I’m Rob - one half of WR Media Group - Nice to meet you all and I hope you are getting on okay with the Roostie site so far. You might encounter a couple of rogue issues here and there – please bear with us whilst we tighten up all the nuts and bolts of the site!

Yesterday (Monday 08 March) was spent in the Fr3e studio’s with one of our artists Elliott Morris. Earlier in the day I met Elliott outside the station and it was freezing! Once the boys from Fre3 arrived to pick us up, it was onwards to the studio where the magic happens. One thing that struck me was the amount of skill and talent in one room, all at the same time - vocalists, producers, experienced DJ/music writer, me (lol) and everyone working harmoniously together – it was great.

We quickly got down to the job in hand, and Elliott – once he has loosened up and warmed up the vocal chords was ready to go – so into the booth he went, and gave it his all. I was surprised at just how quickly he got into the swing of things.

Fr3e had their cameraman there filming our session in the studio, and even being filmed, with a room full of people – most of which he hadn’t met before (except for Shawn and Seb) Elliott was surprisingly unperturbed by the whole affair. I on the other hand was more aware of the Camera – he caught me off-guard so many times! I cant wait to see the footage once he has edited it down haha!

Once the vocal parts had been recorded, it was finally down to piecing it all together. I heard the song played SO MANY times whilst producing it yesterday that I think I was singing it in my sleep lol! Still, it’s a great track, and the house remix is gonna be as big on the dance floor as the main mix of the track will be on the Radio! It really is one of those songs that I could hear being played on Radio 1, Kiss 100, Capital FM, etc … it is such a catchy tune!

All in all we had a great day, lots was achieved and most of all we really enjoyed working with Shawn, Bas, Roachy, Jerome and all the others. We are looking forward to working together on other projects in the future!

A quick blog for now folks, but will provide a longer one soon.

Rob :)
